Octave, MatLab and MatDeck

Octave is a free GNU software and MatLab is a high-cost proprietary software. Matdeck is approximately 4 to 5 times cheaper than MatLab and MatDeck can be free for students and academics.

All three software are very similar in the majority of features but there is still a large difference in community. Octave is more than 40 years old software and has become well-known, while Matlab has a dedicated marketing department to spread word about the software and highlight its abilities, while MatDeck on the other hand, is only a few years old without a marketing department trying to spread its new approach to users, whilst maintaining its low cost.

Matdeck also has Plugins technology, so the user can write additional tools and modules that can be integrated and used as part of the MatDeck software. MatDeck advanced feature where Matdeck document can be transferred to PDF and at the same time to EXE file.

You can write code in the MatDeck doc and add DSP plugin tool kit to generate a PDF doc and a signal processing EXE app using the signal processing functions and features. On top of this, MatDeck has more than 2000 mathematical functions and a plethora of functions for other fields.

MD documents also have Variable sharing between different code blocks and languages, maths, and a wide range of presentation and editing elements. All three software are based on numerical computing, but MatLab and MatDeck have Built-in symbolic mathematics. MatDeck has the most advanced user interface whilst still being the easiest to use.
